It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! As the sweater weather season begins to dazzle everyone with its festive mood, many brands are also preparing for their Christmas campaigns!
When creating campaigns for your brand, you obviously want your audience to engage with the campaigns. Among many creative ideas around, you might want to give augmented-reality-based (AR) campaigns a shot!
To give you some inspiration, here are five examples of AR Christmas campaigns from several brands!
1. Assemblr’s AR Christmas Postcards
Being the season for warm greetings and well-wishing, Christmas is the right time to send out your wishes and greetings to your loved ones. Assemblr joins in this joyful season by creating AR Christmas postcards! That way, you can express your greetings with a special touch!
To get the postcard, all you need to do is download it from the Assemblr app. Then, head over to the AR Book menu, and pick the design that you love. You can simply print it and send it along with your little gift or hampers to your family and friends!
2. Coca-Cola’s AR Polar Bears
In one wonderful Christmas, Coca-Cola decided to spice up the season by releasing an AR campaign. The campaign includes the brand's icon: polar bears. By scanning holiday cans and bottles with the Coca-Cola app, the customers will get the chance to tour the bears' "arctic home" and spread a little festive joy.
The AR experience was created in collaboration with Coca-Cola Digital Platforms—the company's in-house creative firm—and Tactic, a San Francisco-based company. For every different packaging option, the customers can experience various scenes of the polar bears, such as a sledding scenario inspired by a Coca-Cola Christmas ad back in 2013, snowball battles, and a holiday light display.
3. Starbucks’ Instagram Filter
Starbucks already knew that many of their fans would die for their Christmas-themed cups. People would share a photo of their cups on social media, and it became a hype among the fans or other coffee lovers. Learning from the fact, Starbucks decided to perk it up by creating an AR Instagram filter for their 2019 Christmas campaign!
To hop in the trend, customers can go to Starbucks' Instagram and access the AR filter. All they need is to open their camera and point it at the Starbucks holiday cup. And… voila! They can fully enjoy the immersive experience!
4. Target’s AR Christmas Tree
Choosing the right Christmas tree can be quite tricky; you need to make sure it’s the right height and type, so it can fit perfectly in your space.
Aware of this challenge, Target comes up with an AR Christmas tree for the solution. Using Target’s app, people can look for Christmas trees with the “AR” icon that says “See It in Your Space”. Once you place the tree, you can see how it fits in your room—all using your smartphone!
5. Cadbury Elfie Selfie
To celebrate Christmas in 2017, Cadbury created a campaign called Elfie Selfie. Just like its name, Elfie Selfie is a selfie filter designed by a design agency, Design Bridge. Using the Cadbury app, people can take a picture or even make a short film with the selfie filters, which includes sprouting reindeer antlers, twitching elf ears, dodging snowballs, and making a snow angel!
