Did you know that Indonesia has a statue that's claimed to be the third tallest statue in the world? It's called Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK). After 28 years of construction, this statue was finally introduced to the public last year!

Set to be one of the largest in the world, the gigantic monument of the Hindu God of providence Wisnu riding the mythical bird Garuda is located in Indonesia. Here are four interesting facts for you!

Fact #1: Initiated by Nyoman Nuarta–an Indonesian sculptor–this gigantic statue is made of 3000 tons of copper and brass.

Fact #2: Garuda Wisnu Kencana has become the third tallest statue in the world! It has over 121 meters in height. For comparison, the Statue of Liberty is only 93 meters high! The GWK statue follows closely behind Spring Temple Buddha in China dan The Laykyun Sekkya Buddha in Myanmar.

Fact #3: The brass and copper material makes the statue a lightning conductor. Pretty impressive.
